Sustainability and Environment
The sustainability of our products and transparency is very important to us. That is why we have carefully selected our partners and products according to strict criteria. This not only benefits you, but also the environment. 😉 We would also like to actively support environmental protection and animal welfare. In this article you will learn from which countries we get our raw clothing and which processes are used for dyeing. Under the various links you will find more details about the manufacturers and the "print-on-demand providers" who are responsible for the printing. For more information about the quality of the products and Oeko-Tex click here.
Print via Printful
Printful is our “Print On Demand Provider”. All products in our catalog are printed and shipped on request. This method not only helps us to work very efficiently, but also prevents overproduction, which is common in the fashion industry.
Packaging waste
Printful is always improving their packaging. For example, products used to be packaged in an additional plastic mailer. Now they only use a poly mailer bag and triangular boxes for posters to avoid plastic end caps. They have now started using packaging made from post-consumer recycled plastic for all apparel orders.
Printing process
A significant part of our products is printed using the Direct-to-Garment (DTG) process. With DTG, ink is sprayed onto the garment, making it better absorbed into the fabric and making the print less prone to fading. More on this here.
For our DTG prints we use Kornit machines and inks. Kornit uses high quality vegan water-based inks that they formulate, test and produce in their own factories. Kornit inks are non-hazardous, non-toxic, biodegradable and certified with an OEKO-TEX Eco Passport
Where does the raw clothing come from?
We currently source our clothing from Bella + Canvas. Bella + Canvas is a US clothing company that prioritizes sustainability by limiting and filtering its water supply, conserving energy and recycling fabric scraps. They source their blanks from Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua and the United States of America. More on this here.
What does Bella & Canvas do to minimize their environmental impact?
As a sustainable company, Bella + Canvas focuses on these key areas:
WATER REDUCTION - The water used goes through a filter system that makes it possible to recycle it.
ENERGY REDUCTION - They take every opportunity to to reduce carbon footprint.
NEARLY ZERO WASTE - Their LA manufacturing facilities and headquarters produce almost zero residual waste as they recycle pretty much anything that can't be turned into a t-shirt. More on this here.
